I brought my new stuffed animal tiger that I got from the zoo last week.

The zoo was so cool!

Check out the pictures I took on my phone.

I saw elephants, rhinos, zebras, hyenas, giraffes.

Even a kangaroo with a baby inside its pouch!

And, of course, I saw my favorite animals: tigers!

One day, I'd like to go on a safari and see all these animals in the wild.

(school bell rings) But for now, I've gotta go to class!

And I should say it's not just any mighty fine day, it's Show and Tell day here at Central Elementary!

I can't wait to see what you brought!

(cat meowing) Am I hearing things?

That sounded like a meow.

I hope not because I'm really allergic to cat hair.

(cat meowing) There it is again!

Anyway, before we can show and tell, we need to head to Mr. Darren's class.

He has some very interesting things to show and tell you!

So hurry up, you wild animals!

(cat meowing) Achoo!

(bell ringing) (playful horn honking) - [Mr. Darren] Drink up, my little green friend.

Oh, hi!

I was just watering my pet plant.

Well, it's not much of a pet, but it does make me happy to see my plant grow.

(hands slap) Plants are living things and so are animals.

Would you believe that humans are actually animals?

It's true!

We're very special and smart.

We are part of the animal kingdom.

There are millions of different kinds of animals in the world.

They're divided into two basic groups.

Animals who have backbones or spines like we do, and animals who don't have backbones.

Animals who have backbones are called vertebrates.

And, these animals are divided into five categories: mammals, fish, birds, reptiles, and amphibians.

Today, we're gonna learn all about "Marvelous Mammals" from a book written by Dr. Kathryn Hall.

(reads) "What is a Mammal?

"A mammal is a kind of animal.

"Mammals breathe air.

They have a backbone.

"Mammals' bodies make heat.

"Mammal mothers make milk for their babies.

"Many animals are mammals.

"Mice are little mammals.

"Whales are the biggest mammals on Earth.

"Mammals can live where it's very cold.

"They can also live where it is hot.

"Some mammals live in the ocean.

"Mammals are warm-blooded.

"This means that the mammal's body makes heat.

"Mammals can stay warm in very cold places.

"Mammals have hair or fur.

"Fur helps to keep the mammal warm.

"Sometimes, fur can hide the mammal from enemies.

"Ocean mammals have hair, too.

"Whales have tiny hairs on their lips.

"Dolphins are born with tiny hairs that fall out.

"Mammals Care for Their Young.

"Mammal mothers make milk to feed their babies.

"Mammals are the only animals that make milk.

"Different mammals have babies in different ways.

"Live young: "Most mammals give birth to live babies.

"Marsupials: "Some mammals, like kangaroos, "carry their babies in a pouch.

"Egg laying: "Very few mammals, like the platypus, lay eggs.

"Mammals are Smart.

"Mammals have smart brains.

"Some mammals, like humans, are very smart.

"Mammals can solve problems.

They love to play.

"They can learn.

They even show emotions "like happy, sad, or excited.

"Mammals Eat a Variety of Foods.

"Mammals need a lot of energy.

"They get energy from food.

"Some mammals spend their entire day eating.

"Mammals eat many different things.

"Some mammals only eat meat "(carnivores).

"Other mammals only eat plants "(herbivores).

"Some mammals eat plants and meat (omnivores)."

And, I'm a mammal who likes to eat cheese sandwiches!

All this talk of food is making me hungry!

When's lunch?

(school bell rings) Oh, there's Barry.

Hopefully he's sending us to the cafeteria!

(playful horn honking) (bell ringing) - [Barry] Hold your horses.

It's not lunchtime yet!

Come to think of it, have you ever tried to hold a horse?

Not too easy.

They are really strong animals, and big too!

¡Muy grande!

(cat meowing) Gracias.

Where is that cat hiding?

My allergies are bonkers!

My eyes are watering.

My nose is- Achoo!

While I figure out where this furry mammal is, why don't you head to the library?

Eddie is doing some "cat-tastic" research!

(school bell rings) (playful horn honking) - Before my show-and-tell presentation, I want to do a little more research and learn as much about tigers as I possibly can.

Let's check it out.

(keyboard clacking) (mouse clicking) - [Narrator] Life cycle of a tiger.

Tigers are mammals.

They grow from being a little cub into a big cat, and every tiger follows the same life cycle.

Stage one: Baby.

Baby tigers are called cubs, and they are born with their eyes closed.

Cubs depend on their mother for every need.

They eat their mother's milk, and they live in a little hideout called a den.

Stage two: Young.

After six weeks, tiger cubs leave their den to go out and play with each other and explore the world with their mom.

The mother protects her cubs, and she teaches them how to hunt.

They learn quickly.

Stage three: Adult.

When the cubs grow up, adult tigers live and hunt alone.

A female tiger will have cubs, and she will care for her babies.

Then, the life cycle of a tiger starts all over again.

♪ - [Eddie] Tigers are such amazing mammals!

And while Eddie is showing and telling, Mr. Darren has a spine-tingling activity for you in the gym.

It's time to stretch our spines!

We've gotta take care of our backbones.

So, everybody up out of your seats and follow along with me!

(whistle blowing) Lift your arms up high and reach for the sky.

Now, open them wide and go from side to side.

Next, bend down low and try to touch your toes.

♪ And roll up real slow, one vertebrae at a time.

And wind, wind, wind.

Roll your shoulders back, and we're on track.

Ahh!

That feels better.

(cat whining) Well, that worked.

Speaking of work, let's go back to Mr. Darren's classroom and review all our awesome schoolwork we covered today.

Did you know that plants are very important to mammals?

Plants give off oxygen and mammals need oxygen to breathe!

How cool is that?

Today was awesome.

We learned all about mammals.

Let's review.

First, we read a book called "Marvelous Mammals."

Eddie researched more about tigers before Show-and-Tell.

- And because mammals all have backbones, we did some spine stretching activities so we can stand up straight and tall.

Bend down low and try to touch your toes.

♪ And roll up real slow, one vertebrae at a time.

But, poor Barry has not been having a good day because of one particular mammal.

- Where is that cat hiding?

My allergies are bonkers!

My eyes are watering, My nose is- Achoo!

sneezing.

- We are humans and we are mammals!

We breathe air.

(inhales/exhales deeply) We have vertebrae.

We have hair or fur.

Our bodies stay warm.

And when we were babies, our mothers nursed us with milk or formula.

Isn't it magnificent to be a mammal?

♪ No offense.

You're amazing, too.

(playful horn honking) (school bell rings) - The cat has left and so have my allergies.

Don't get me wrong.

Cats are cute and cuddly, but some mammals have fur that just doesn't agree with me.

Oh!

I wonder how Eddie's show-and-tell presentation went.

My stuffed tiger and I, we nailed the show-and-tell!

I also shared all my photos of the different mammals at the zoo.

My class enjoyed it so much, they asked the teacher if we could go there on a field trip and he said yes!

Somos muy especiales e inteligentes, pero somos parte del reino animal.

Hay millones de diferentes tipos de animales en el mundo.

Se dividen en dos grupos básicos: Animales que tienen columna vertebral, o espinazos, como nosotros.

Y animales que no tienen columna vertebral.

Los animales que tienen columna vertebral se llaman VERTEBRADOS.

Y estos animales se dividen en cinco categorías: mamíferos, peces, aves, reptiles, y anfibios.

Hoy vamos a aprender todo sobre MAMÍFEROS MAGNÍFICOS en un libro escrito por la Dra.

Kathryn Hall.

Ellos crecen de pequeños cachorros a ser unos gatos muy grandes, y cada tigre sigue el mismo ciclo de vida.

1a etapa: Bebé Los tigres bebés se llaman "cachorros" y nacen con los ojos cerrados.

Los cachorros dependen de su madre para cada necesidad.

Comen la leche de su madre y viven en un pequeño escondite llamado una guarida.

2a etapa: Joven Después de 6 semanas, los cachorros salen de su guarida a jugar y aprender de su madre.

Ella protege a sus cachorros y les enseña a cazar, y ellos aprenden muy pronto.

3a etapa: Adulto Cuando crecen, los tigres adultos viven y cazan solos.

Una tigresa tendrá cachorros y cuidará de sus crías.

Allí es cuando el ciclo de vida de un tigre comienza de nuevo.
